BuzzWRLD #1: WILD STYLES

The late 90s were fun, wild and booming. The new millennium was just around the corner and there was a palpable sense of wonder in the air. Anything was possible.

During this time, the world experienced a technological boom not seen before or since. The growing adoption of household computers and the advent of the digital camera meant that many new forms of expression were in their infancy. There was myriad experimentation and artists of all disciplines were pushing these – and other – emerging implements to their limits.

Nowadays, art and culture can feel quite homogenous. Films need to fit into / kickstart multibillion-dollar franchises to be considered successful. Most artists in music are all chasing the same "sound". The biggest video games all strive for photo-realistic graphics - and end up looking outdated within 3 - 5 years.

WILD STYLES illustrates the moments before the world fully entered the digital era, while we were standing on the precipice between the past and the future. Back when art was exciting, authenticity was paramount and style was everything.
